Several-day biking tours in the Lungau region
In addition to enjoyable excursions, the Lungau region offers various possibilities for several-day cycling tours. These routes are clearly signposted. You can stay in various “Zimmer freis” (vacant rooms) along the route during these several-day tours. We strongly recommend that you book in advance for the high season although it is easy to go somewhere else when cycling.

Mur cycle path (‘Murradweg’; Steiernark, Styria)
As the name suggests, this cycling route runs alongside the Mur river. Austria’s second largest river has its source in Lungau. The Mur cycle path is 365 km long and runs through the most beautiful areas of Lungau, Styria, to the Slovenian border to Bad Radkersburg.
The landscape changes several times along the 370 km distance that this cycle path covers. The high mountains can be found in the High Tauern area of Salzburg. After that, the trail continues from the low mountain range to the undulating hiking area in the south east of Styria to the Slovenian border.
This trail is very suitable for families with children. The largest section of the trail runs alongside the water. In a few places, this is not possible, and the trail is led around the water. This means there is a short substantial climb occasionally but there are certainly no long and hard climbs.

Enns cycle path (Ensradweg)
The Enns cycle path runs alongside the Enns for 262 km. The route runs along impressive summits, romantic valleys and Austrian mountain villages. It starts in Flachau and runs to Enns through Schladming, Liezen, Altenmarkt, Großraming and Steyr. The advantage of this route is that you can decide how many stages you wish to cover. This ensures you can set your own pace and route. The trail is “gemütlich” (easy) to medium and very suitable for families with children.
