Snow-sure family paradise with stunning views

Four places form a winter sports area between Tyrol and the Salzburger Land—from the old Zillertal capital Zell to 580m above Gerlos and Hochkrimml up to the mountain village Königsleiten (Wald-im-Pinzgau municipality ) at 1,600m altitude. 143km of groomed slopes at altitudes between 1470m and 2302m guarantee snow from the beginning of December to late spring and lots of fun, especially for families, but also for the ambitious. Here, you’ll not only find all the usual winter sports offers, but also breathtaking nature, diverse cuisine and interesting leisure activities.

The excellent facilities for kids make this ski area ideal for families with (small) children.

Due to the high altitude of this area, there is a good chance that there is a lot of snow!

Explore a large number of kilometres of slopes and take long day trips with connections to other ski areas!

About Zillertal Arena

52 state-of-the-art ski lifts take you to the largest ski resort in the Zillertal, 320 hectares in size. The slopes of the Zillertal Arena are divided into 11km of black, 89km of red and 43km of blue runs. Here, beginners will excel, but even the most demanding skiers will find a good challenge. The area is also popular with snowboarders.

The scenic beauty and the proximity to nature make the Zillertal Arena one of the most popular winter sports areas in the Austrian Alps. On the Gerlosplatte, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. The longest continuous descent to Zell am Ziller is almost 2,000 vertical metres—a record in Austria! The Zillertal Arena has also made a name for itself as a family-friendly destination. Accordingly, in winter you will find a wide range of activities for children on the slopes and in the ski villages.

The Zillertal Arena is located, for the most part, in the Zillertal Alps, which are particularly popular among nature lovers because of their beauty and biodiversity. The smaller, higher part belongs to the Venediger group in the Hohe Tauern. Among other things, you’ll also find the largest waterfalls in Europe here—a worthwhile destination for a winter hike. If you are after cross-country skiing, you will find a particularly high-altitude trail at an altitude of over 2,300 m.

The fun park in Hochkrimml, for example, is particularly suitable for children. The latest highlight is the first Boarders Playground Snowpark in Zillertal: the Hot-Zone Park at the Vorkogel lift in Gerlos. The snow park is playfully designed with obstacles—there is something for everyone here. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, you’ll be sure to get your money's worth.

Cross-Sountry Skiing

From December to April, you can enjoy a freshly prepared, snow-sure cross-country ski trail of over 200km. A paradise for cross-country fans and those who want to become one.

At Haizenberg, the longest toboggan run in the Zillertal is 7km away. In Krummbachtal, you will find another 2km long toboggan run. Both tracks are illuminated. In Krimml/Hochkrimml, there is also a 2.2km long natural toboggan run, which leads from the Schönmosalm Inn to the centre of Krimml. It is illuminated daily until 23:00. Fun is guaranteed every week on Tuesday at the "moonlight tobogganing". And if you want to try high-speed tobogganing, then snow tubing is certainly something for you—the tracks in Gerlosstein are free and will definitely give fans a kick.

If you are looking for fun and excitement, you will definitely find something suitable in the Zillertal Arena. Bars, restaurants and huts have been established in all four locations to provide the necessary variety after a long day on the slopes, whether you want to dance the night away or prefer an intimate dinner. Gerlos has particularly made a name for itself as an après-ski spot.

If you prefer indoor sports, Gerlos has a large indoor tennis and squash area. The abundant horse farms offer romantic carriage rides through the winter magic.
