This area offers varied slopes and a cosy, traditional alpine atmosphere with plenty of mountain huts.

Schmitten features 77 kilometres of pistes, but that’s not the whole story. Since 2020, a connection to Viehhofen has opened up, giving access to the Skicircus Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn, which adds another 270 kilometres of ski runs.

The Kitzsteinhorn near Kaprun is the glacier ski area of the Salzburgerland – a true paradise for snow lovers. With a peak altitude of 3,029 metres, it offers skiing nearly all year round. Even in early and late season, snow conditions are excellent, making it a favourite among both recreational skiers and professional teams.

This ski area offers a wide range of pistes – from broad glacier slopes to more challenging runs for advanced skiers. Snowparks, a funslope, and freeride terrain complete the picture. Non-skiers will also find plenty to enjoy, including winter hiking trails, a panoramic viewing platform at Gipfelwelt 3000, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The K-ONNECTION links Kaprun directly to the glacier, offering quick and comfortable access to the highest point of the ski area.
