Short description of Viehhofen

Viehhofen is a small, friendly village in the Glemmtal valley in the Salzburg region. The village is centrally located, surrounded by the mountains of Pinzgau, and is close to the very popular and bustling holiday villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. With only 700 inhabitants, Viehhofen is significantly quieter compared to the nearby villages, making it the ideal starting point for your winter vacation!

Centrally located

What makes Viehhofen the perfect starting point is that this small town is situated between two of Austria's most well-known ski areas: the family ski area Zell am See and the extensive Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Both ski areas are easily accessible from the village. The zellamseeXpress gondola takes you up to Schmittenhöhe to enjoy the family ski area, and the free ski bus goes to Schönleitenbahn for exploring the extensive Skicircus. Next to the zellamseeXpress station, there is also a practice lift for children and novice skiers.

Other options

If you want to take a break from skiing, you can enjoy breathtaking winter views during a winter cruise on Lake Zell near Zell am See. If you prefer to admire the lake from the shore, a beautiful winter hike is an excellent option. There is also a charming ice rink near the lake. With a bit of luck, you might not only use this ice rink but even skate on a frozen Lake Zell! Tobogganing, cross-country skiing, or relaxing in wellness resorts in the region are also super fun options. Additionally, those who love romance in Saalbach-Hinterglemm can choose from torchlight hikes, romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides, and snowshoe walks.

Après-ski

Entertainment options can be found in the villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm, located about 10 to 15 minutes away by car. For those with enough energy, night skiing is even available on the illuminated slopes in Hinterglemm.
