Krimml in Winter
Krimml is located at the foot of the Gerlos Pass, on the border between the Salzburg region and Tyrol. This welcoming village, with all the essential amenities, sits at an altitude of approximately 1,070 metres and is best known for the spectacular Krimml Waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Austria. However, Krimml is also an excellent destination for a winter sports holiday. Within just 15 minutes, you can reach the ski resorts of the Zillertal Arena and Wildkogel Arena. Krimml is also the starting point of the Pinzgau Cross-Country Ski Trail and several beautiful winter hiking trails. In addition, the village has a practice slope where young children can make their very first turns on skis.

A short introduction to Krimml
Krimml is a charming mountain village in Hohe Tauern National Park, located on the border between the Salzburg region and Tyrol. World-famous for the Krimml Waterfalls, it is also a popular and peaceful base for a varied winter sports holiday. Thanks to its location at an altitude of over 1,070 metres and its proximity to several ski resorts, you can enjoy excellent snow conditions throughout the winter season.
The Zillertal Arena can be reached via Hochkrimml in approximately 15 minutes. The Wildkogel Arena is also nearby and is easily accessible by car or the free ski bus. This allows you to combine the tranquillity of an authentic mountain village with the extensive facilities of two outstanding ski areas.
In addition to skiing, Krimml is an ideal destination for cross-country skiers and winter hikers. The Pinzgau Cross-Country Ski Trail starts in the village, while several winter hiking trails lead through the snow-covered landscapes of Hohe Tauern National Park.

Krimml is situated between two popular ski resorts: the Zillertal Arena and the Wildkogel Arena. Both are easily accessible by car or the free ski bus and offer excellent skiing opportunities for beginners and experienced winter sports enthusiasts alike.
Wildkogel Arena
The Wildkogel Arena is just a 10-minute drive from Krimml. This family-friendly ski resort offers 75 kilometres of pistes, modern lifts, and wide slopes that are ideal for families and recreational skiers. Snowboarders and toboggan enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy.
Zillertal Arena
Via the Gerlos Pass, you can reach Hochkrimml in approximately 15 minutes, where you'll have direct access to the Zillertal Arena. With 147 kilometres of pistes, modern lift facilities, and excellent snow reliability, it is one of Austria's largest and most popular ski resorts. Beginners and advanced skiers alike will enjoy the wide variety of slopes and spectacular mountain scenery.
Practice slope in the village
Young children can take their very first turns on skis right in Krimml. The Märchenwiese Krimml features a magic carpet lift and is located in the centre of the village, approximately 400 metres on foot from the Cool Chalets.
Ski passes
With the Zillertal Arena ski pass or the Zillertaler Superskipass, you can ski in both the Zillertal Arena and the Wildkogel Arena. A valid ski pass also allows you to use the ski bus free of charge between Krimml, Hochkrimml, Neukirchen, Wald, and Königsleiten.
Ski schools
Several professional ski schools operate in Hochkrimml and Neukirchen am Großvenediger. Children and adults can take ski and snowboard lessons for every skill level, and private lessons are also available.

Snowboarding
Snowboarders can enjoy the snow parks in the Zillertal Arena. The famous Hot-Zone Snowpark in Gerlos features exciting obstacles for beginners and advanced riders alike. There is also a snow park on the Gerlosplatte near Hochkrimml, which is particularly suitable for families and freestyle enthusiasts.
Tobogganing
Toboggan enthusiasts are equally well catered for. The Wildkogel Arena is home to the world's longest floodlit toboggan run, while several smaller toboggan runs around Krimml provide great fun for families.
