Opening Ski Areas
At the beginning of November, it’s finally time: the first ski resort near ChaletsPlus holiday homes opens its doors for winter sports enthusiasts. As in previous years, Kitzbühel & Kirchberg (KitzSki) kicks off the season with an initial (limited) opening. On Friday, 7 November 2025, part of the area will already be open.
Other resorts are also starting before December with partial or festive openings: Obertauern has a planned partial opening on Friday, 21 November 2025, and Saalbach-Hinterglemm follows with a (preliminary) opening from Friday, 28 November 2025.
For glacier skiing enthusiasts: Kaprun (Kitzsteinhorn / Maiskogel) opens early in the season. Glacier facilities are scheduled to open from Saturday, 11 October 2025, depending on weather and snow conditions.
For many other ski areas, the main season officially starts around early December. Below are the opening dates per resort:

So, if you’re going skiing soon, get prepared in advance. Always check the official ski resort website shortly before departure (opening hours and lift status may change due to weather), check the weather via webcams, make sure you have all the important equipment, are in good shape, and excited. Before you know it, it’s time for your favorite holiday!
