Saalbach-Hinterglemm in the Winter View summer

Introduction

Saalbach Hinterglemm is located in the Glemmtal at an altitude of approx. 1000 m and 25 km to the North West of Kaprun and consists of the villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Saalbach is the largest and the most chic of the two villages. You can still enjoy a village atmosphere in Hinterglemm. Originally, they were at a distance of 4 km from each other but due to their expansion, they have come to be closer to each other. Hinterglemm has developed into a village with the same size as the older Saalbach. Both villages are pedestrian areas for the greater part due to the tunnels that have been built around the villages. Saalbach and Hinterglemm are a part of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn Ski Circus.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm is located in the Glemmtal at an altitude of approx.1000 m and 25 km north-west of Kaprun and consists of the villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Saalbach and Hinterglemm make up part of the Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Ski Circus. The link to Fieberbrunn is to open in the winter of 2015/2016, making this the largest continuous skiing area in Austria.

In Saalbach, Hinterglemm and Vorderglemm
Saalbach and Hinterglemm are surrounded by the Pinzgau mountains. Saalbach is the largest and the most worldly of the two. You can still enjoy a village atmosphere in Hinterglemm. Originally, they were at a distance of 4 km from each other but due to their expansion, they have come to be closer to each other. Hinterglemm has developed into a village with the same size as the older Saalbach. Both villages are largely pedestrian areas due to the tunnels that have been built around the villages.  You will find supermarkets, shops, several restaurants and places of entertainment in both villages. The villages offers excellent après-ski possibilities, varying from typical Austrian “Schirmbar” to different mountain huts such as the Pfefferalm. Those that still have the energy can go skiing in the evening on the floodlit slope in Hinterglemm. Those that prefer romance can go on torch-lit walks, romantic tours with a horse-sleigh or snowshoe walks.

In Vorderglemm
The village of Vorderglemm is approx. 4 km from Saalbach. Vorderglemm is a small, quiet village bordering on the tourist attractions Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Vorderglemm offers a connection to the Schönleitenbahn. Vorderglemm is an ideal destination for families with children.

Ski facilities Saalbach-Hinterglemm
The descent stations of the Kolmaisbahn, the Bernkogel lift and the Schattbergbahn are all located on the edge of Saalbach. The village of Vorderglemm that is close by is linked to the region through the Schönleitenbahn. The small training slop of this village can be found between the Hinterhagalf and the Bauers Schi-Alm. The various ski schools enable you to learn all about the latest techniques and styles in the sphere of skiing and snowboarding. The various sports shops offer a wide variety of winter sports items and also rent out skiing equipment.

Ski circus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn
The Ski Circus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, located at an altitude of 840 to 2096 metres, is one of the five largest skiing areas in Austria. The area consists of 270 km of slopes that vary to nursery slopes to black slopes and has 70 lifts of which 28 are gondolas, 22 are chair lifts and 20 are tow lifts. Thanks to the construction of a new cable car rail, this skiing area is now also connected to Fieberbrunn, resulting in an additional 35 km of pistes. The snow guarantee is warranted by the approx. 460 snow canons. This expansive skiing area is the ideal spot for going on hikes.

Ski passes
The ski passes are valid in Saalbach, Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn. A valid ski pass grants you access to all of the ski buses in the Glemmtal

Tobogganing
Those who enjoy tobogganing can choose between five lit toboggan runs in the Ski circus, including the lit run on the Reiterkogel. You can use this free of charge if you have a valid ski pass.

Cross-country
Saalbach Hinterglemm offers a total of 10 km of cross-country trails. This region is not as suitable for the cross-country skier. Cross-country should therefore opt for Zell am See, approx. 15 minutes by car.

Ski bus
With a valid ski pass, you can make use of all of the ski buses in the Glemmtal. The ski bus connects Saalbach-Hinterglemm and Leogang and Saalfelden. There is no bus connection, however, between Saalbach-Hinterglemm and Leogang.

Those considering taking a flight to their holiday destination can make use of the holiday-shuttle-service from the Salzburg airport. You can comfortably and quickly reach the Ski Circus with this service.
