Every winter sports enthusiast feels at home in Mauterndorf!
In addition to skiing, Mauterndorf has much more to offer, such as walks in the snow. A popular hiking trail leads from the historic market square to the ski centre, passing the imposing Mauterndorf Castle on the way. At the end of the hike, you can warm up in the restaurant Schi Alm and then make your way back. The beautiful winter landscape in Lungau is perfect for a tour in a horse-drawn sleigh. You can also ice skate on the natural skating rink at the public swimming pool.
The scenic charms and the rural area immediately create a holiday atmosphere. The Tauern mountains are still relatively high here, while the landscape is already characterised by gentle hilltops and lovely valleys. The Lungau has the most hours of sunshine in the whole of Austria!
