The most famous mountain in the Zell am See-Kaprun is the Kitzsteinhorn. This 3000 metre-high mountain peak with eternal snow has a silhouette that is instantly recognizable and can be seen from far and wide. The appeal of the Kitzsteinhorn is enormous. Tourists and locals alike are drawn to the 'white mountain' for the following reasons:

365 days of snow each year

The Kitzsteinhorn is a glacier ski area that where snow is 100% guaranteed and accessible, 365 days a year. In the spring, you can enjoy fantastic snowboarding and skiing in the sunshine. On the glacier at the top of the Kitzsteinhorn, you can even enjoy 'winter sports' until July 21 as the Magnetköpfllift cable car takes you from the green summer valley to the cool white heights of the Kitzensteinhorn, a truly special contrast. On really hot summer days, at the end of a tiring day, you can swap your ski suit for a swimming costume and take a cooling dip in the beautiful Zeller See.

For family fun in the snow, you can also visit the 'Ice Arena' from 28 June to the beginning of September. Sledging, building snowmen, having snowball fights and enjoying the sun on a lounger, the Kitzsteinhoorn is open all year round!

The highest vantage point in the country

The Gipfelweld 3000 panorama platform is the highest vantage point in the country, at 3,029 metres above sea level. From this platform, you can admire breathtaking views of the highest peaks of Austria and the beautiful nature of the famous Hohe Tauern park. Thanks to the cable cars, this high point is accessible to everyone. All your senses will be invigorated with the alpine air, the sparkle of the glaciers and trying to spot the highest mountain in Austria, the Grossglockner!

Adventure for the whole family

For a guaranteed adrenaline rush, step into the first alpine roller coaster in Salzburg; the Maisiflitzer! Waves, jumps and spectacular spins will leave all the family full of excitement. At the valley station of the Maisiflitzer is a large playground, where you can relax afterwards and the children can get rid of their excess energy.

Between July and September, you can also visit the adventure playground at the Gletschermühle restaurant, where children can climb like a mountain goat or hide like a marmot in a cave. For really hot days, head to the water playground on the Langwied. Building canals and dams, splashing and splashing, water and sand are always a success!

Mountain biking, mountain climbing and hiking

The Kitzsteinhorn offers perfect trails for mountain bikes and E-biking. Guided tours and multi-day trips can be booked and there is a free charging station in the Gletschermühle restaurant. There are secure climbing routes for all levels for mountain climbers and the possibilities are endless for walkers. From rocky landscapes to easily accessible paths through lush alpine meadows. The cable cars take you comfortably to the starting point of various hiking routes.

Gipfel restaurant

After you've worked up an appetite from all those sporting activities, don't forget to visit the highest restaurant in Salzburg. Dining at 3,029 metres above sea level is an unforgettable experience, not only because of the impressive view but also because of the excellent food.
