Saalbach Hinterglemm is located in the Glemmtal at an altitude of approx. 1000 m and 25 km to the North West of Kaprun and consists of the villages of Saalbach and Hinterglemm. Saalbach is the larger and the most chic of the two villages. You can still enjoy a village atmosphere in Hinterglemm. Originally, they were at a distance of 4 km from each other but due to their expansion, Saalbach and Hinterglemm have come to be closer to each other. Hinterglemm has developed into a village with the same size as the older Saalbach. Both villages are pedestrian areas for the greater part due to the tunnels that have been built around the villages.

In Saalbach Hinterglemm
Saalbach and Hinterglemm are surrounded by the mountains of Pinzgau. You will find a supermarket, various cash dispensers, an Internet point, several restaurants and places of entertainment in both villages.

Active (family) holidays
This region is extremely suitable for a family holiday. There are 400 km of signposted walking routes that vary from simple walking routes to hiking treks for the true adventurer. In addition, there are many sports activities that you can enjoy including tennis, squash, midget golf, horse riding, rafting, paragliding, archery and golf.

The mountain bike and hiking Mecca of the Alps
Saalbach and Hinterglemm are extremely suitable for nature lovers and families with children. The 400 km signposted walking paths offer unforgettable panoramic views of the Hohe Tauern to the Leogang Steinbergen. In addition, you can use the 4 cable cars that will take you to the starting point of the various hiking routes at altitude. There are twelve signposted walking and Nordic walking routes with a total length of 71.4 km.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm forms the largest mountain bike area of Austria together with Leogang Saalfelden and Zell am See Kaprun. You can make use of no less than 720 km signposted mountain bike paths in this area of which 160 km is situated in the immediate vicinity and 480 km in the valley. In addition, there are adventurous single trails, five cable cars with mountain bike transfer options and two mountain bike parks of which one has a free ride course with a length of 1.9 km.

Mountain lakes and swimming pools
There are various small mountain lakes in the area including the Hochtorsee. The lake of Zell am See offers various options for those who want to experience extensive water sports possibilities. You can sail, surf, water-ski, etc., in this lake. In addition, there is an outdoor pool in Saalbach and an indoor pool in Hinterglemm. Recently, a new recreational pool has been added for families with children: Käpt'n Hook recreational pool. This swimming pool offers options for young and old including a water area of 1000 m2 , a wild water lane, a climbing net, massage divans, a slide and a lot more water fun. There is also a beach volleyball field, an open air cinema for children and a restaurant.

The Salzburg state
Seven locations in Salzburg state are really worth visiting. There is something for everyone. The available attractions range from ice caves to the Salzburg’s castles and palaces. Four historical buildings are especially worth visiting. Visit these buildings and experience the adventure and the culture of the past or visit the ice caves. These caves were created by subterranean water through erosion that lasted million of years and which later were taken over by the ice cave system. There are no caves like it in the whole world. Get to know old Austria by visiting a unique open-air museum near Salzburg. Here you will find 70 original buildings, including authentic farms and aromatic herb gardens. You should definitely visit the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria. During one of the many walks you can become acquainted with this area.

Golf
For the true golf enthusiast there is the Golfclub Zell am See - Kaprun - Saalbach Hinterglemm, situated at the border of Zell am Zee. Saalbach-Hinterglemm has a 9-hole golf course, par 3 that also has a driving range. There are also 6 18-hole golf courses in the immediate vicinity.
