The idyllic Hinterthal lies in the middle of pristine nature with the High King mountain in the background. Hinterthal lies between the villages of Maria Alm and Dienten. Maria Alm is the largest village. It has a number of attractive shops and a large supermarket. Hinterthal is a part of the holiday region of Hochkönig, together with the villages of Maria Alm, Dienten and Mühlbach. 

In Hinterthal
Hinterthal is a small, typically Austrian village. It is a quiet and scenically situated village with plenty of facilities. There is a small supermarket for daily shopping. There is also a bank, a playground and a restaurant.

Active holidays
The Hochkönig region has an extensive 340 km network of hiking trails. Apart from hiking there are extensive routes for mountain biking. Less fanatical cyclists can enjoy a range of cycle tours and treks. The Hochkönig region also offers a wide selection of outdoor sporting activities.

Outdoor adventure
The nearby village of Maria Alm is home to the Waldseilgarten Alpinskischule, the place to be to overcome your vertigo and broaden your horizons. So what is it? Waldseilgarten Alpinskischule is an outdoor adventure centre consisting of a forest rope course, a 120 m zip line known as the Flying Fox, the King Swing, and much more. In short, plenty of opportunity to get your adrenaline going.

Swimming pool
There is a large outdoor pool in nearby Maria Alm. The swimming pool is ideal for families with children, partly because of the 40 m water slide. Parents can enjoy a well deserved break in the relaxation area around the pool.

The states of Salzburg
Hinterthal is located in Salzburgerland. The province offers a wide range of fun and captivating places of interest. In addition to countless historical monuments, which stand testimony to its rich history, Salzburg is also home to ice caves. These ice caves have been carved out over thousands of years, and are a magnificent sight. You should definitely visit the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria. Get to know this area on one of the hiking trails.

Enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery, the flowers and the nature while playing.
